Established in 1968 as the Jack Neal Vineyard Management company, Neal Family Vineyards is one of Napa Valley’s finest gems. Following the death of his father in the early 1990s, Mark Neal has continued to focus on growing superior grapes to make quality wines. And he has definitely succeeded. Neal Family Vineyards has taken a leading role in organic farming, certifying all NFV wine program vineyards with the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). Quite an accomplishment. The winery became a reality in 2001.
Sourced from four separate vineyard locations - Howell Mountain (31%), Mt. Veeder (12%), Rutherford (16%), and St. Helena (40%), the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is, in my estimation, classic Napa Valley with an old world backbone. Very dark in color, subtle ripe fruit flavors predominate. Not an overpowering wine, yet a generous and gentle mouthfeel coupled with a long and lingering finish and tame tannins make this a very delicious wine - a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon not to be missed. And a very food-friendly wine.
For the entire month of June 2017 we are offering the 2011 Neal Cabernet Sauvignon at the reduced price of $68 per 750 ml bottle or $17 per glass. I think you will like this wine.
The winery, located at 716 Liparita Avenue, Angwin, CA, is open for tasting only by appointment. Please check the winery website for further details. www.nealvineyards.com
