Wine of the Month for May - Melville Pinot Noir 2015 Estate - Sta. Rita Hills

For the entire month of May, we are proud to serve the 2015 Melville Pinot Noir at the reduced price of $42 per 750 ml bottle and $10.50 per glass.

Melville is a family-owned and operated winery, their roots started three decades ago. Ron Melville began in 1989 to develop his high-quality grapes in Sonoma County’s Knights Valley. In 1996, Ron's desire to grow cold-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah brought Melville Vineyards to the Sta. Rita Hills, located in the Western Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County. Today, Ron and his son, Chad Melville, uphold Melville’s tradition as one of the most highly regarded estates in California.

In this lovely wine, you will find its 100% Melville fruit from their Sta. Rita Hills estate, and is a collection of 16 pinot noir clones. This pinot has a light garnet color and aromatics of rhubarb, tangerine zest, fresh cranberry and juniper are apparent. Biba and I have had this wine with pasta dishes, as well as with beef, veal, lamb, pork and it always enhances the meal!

Wine of the Month for April - Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2016 Sonoma County

For the entire month of April, we are proud to serve the 2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir at the reduced price of $44 per 750 ml bottle and $11 per glass.

The Hartford Family makes wine under two marks, one of which is Hartford Court. Hartford Court bottlings are small lots of high-personality single vineyard Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that express the distinctive qualities inherent in each vineyard’s terroir- the interplay of soil, slope, exposure, and climate. The fruit is sourced from the Russian River Valley, Green Valley, and Sonoma Coast appellations.

Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford’s appreciation for the wines, the people and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast.

In this wine you will experience, the aromas of black cherry, allspice, black currant, and loam are followed by flavors of wild raspberries, dark berries, and a crushed rock minerality. The dense entry is followed by a sweet and juicy mouthfeel, supported by acidity, silky tannins, and a subtle earthy finish. Biba and I have had this wine with pasta dishes, as well as with beef, veal, lamb, pork and it always enhances the meal!

Wine of the Month for February - Stags’ Leap Winery Merlot 2015 Napa Valley

One of California’s earliest wine estates (grapes first planted on the property in 1872), Stags’ Leap Winery has been, and continues to be, one of Napa Valley’s premier winery. Although Merlot is often thought of as a second wine (second to Cabernet Sauvignon) and erroneously dismissed by Cabernet aficionados, this Napa Valley wine is exceptional and extremely versatile wine for any and all occasions.

Fruit flavors of dark cherry and plum, combined with subtle notes of cinnamon and cocoa, with a firm structure and soft, silky tannins, make for a delicious Napa Valley Classic. This is Merlot at its best.

For the entire month of February 2019, we are offering the Stags’ Leap 2015 Merlot at the reduced price of $44 per 750 ml bottle or $11 per glass. I think you will agree this wine is a classic.
